P-1S & O-2 Frequently Asked Questions

1

Can I work for multiple employers on a P-1S or O-2 visa? No, both visas only allow you to work for the specific P-1 or O-1 visa holder listed on your petition. If you need to work for another employer, they must file a separate Form I-129 petition for you.

2

What happens if my employment ends before my visa expires? If your role supporting the P-1 or O-1 visa holder ends, your P-1S or O-2 status is no longer valid, and you may need to leave the U.S. immediately. If another qualifying opportunity arises, a new Form I-129 petition must be filed on your behalf.

3

How long can I stay in the U.S. on a P-1S or O-2 visa? Your visa duration matches the approved period of the P-1 or O-1 visa holder you are supporting. Extensions can be granted in 1-year increments if the primary visa holder's status is extended.
